Winners of 2009 Duck Tape® brand duct tape Stuck at Prom® Scholarship Contest Announced-

Art and nature seem to easily go hand-in-hand. With so many wonderful colors and environments all around, it’s easy to take inspiration from the natural wonders of the world.

That’s exactly what the winner’s of the Duck Tape® brand Stuck at Prom® Scholarship Contest did when they designed their duct tape prom outfits resembling the beautiful & graceful peacock.

Izzy Bristow, 18, Golden, Colo., and John Dyer, 18, Evergreen, Colo., were named the winners of the ninth annual Duck Tape brand duct tape Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest, and each received a $3,000 scholarship. Lakewood High School, Lakewood, Colo., was also awarded $3,000 for hosting the prom.

The duo, dressed from head to toe in duct tape, outdid more than 215 couples from 40 states and four Canadian provinces. The peacock outfit was created using blue, green, purple, Island Lime™ Green and electric blue, Duck Tape brand duct tape’s newest addition to its pallet of more than 20 colors. The couple also used copper leafing and baling wire to achieve the look of their outfits.

Second place brother and sister duo, Maris and Zane Blanchard, Bixby, Okla., each received a $2,000 scholarship and $2,000 for their high school, Bixby High School.

Third place couple Jordan Fauser and Matthew Caughman of Houston, Texas, each won a $1,000 scholarship and $1,000 for their high school, Jersey Village High School.

A panel of judges narrowed the contestants down to 10 finalist couples. Entries were judged on a number of criteria, including workmanship, originality, use of colors, accessories and quantity of duct tape used. The public then voted for their favorite ensembles during a two-week online voting period.

More than 46,000 votes were submitted for all finalists, determining Izzy and John as the winning couple.
